Elon Musk ordered the Starlink slowdown that hindered Kyiv’s defense last week, US officials told The Wall Street Journal, an episode that punctuated a stunning breakdown in US-Ukraine ties.
Kyiv said Tuesday that Washington had resumed intelligence sharing, which had become another point of contention, along with the US’ diesel deal with Moscow and waiving of Russia sanctions. This “staggering one-two punch” to Ukraine could be because US President Donald Trump needed a “scapegoat” for high fuel prices, an Atlantic correspondent argued.
The reasons for Ukrainian leaders’ criticism of Trump are less ambiguous: They believe Trump has “gone so far in putting Russia’s interests ahead of Ukraine’s security that holding their tongue would be riskier than speaking up,” The New York Times reported.
