Democrat Leela Gray is launching her first ad against Republican Rep. Anna Paulina Luna in Florida, calling her “part of the problem in DC, including the culture of corruption.”
Gray, a retired Army Brigadier General, says in the ad first shared with Semafor that she is running on “making life more affordable,” accusing Luna of giving “insider information to her donor while our costs are out of control.” The ad also features the headline of a Tampa Bay Times writeup of a Wall Street Journal story about allegations Luna gave tips to a conservative influencer about Trump’s vice presidential pick to bet on Polymarket.
Luna denied the allegations to the Journal, and she threatened legal action against the Tampa Bay Times. Democrats see Luna’s district as flippable despite Florida drifting rightward in previous cycles. Some recent polling showed the two candidates statistically tied, or Gray narrowly leading. Still, the nonpartisan Cook Political Report labels the race “likely Republican.”
