The US heightened its trade pressure on allies and lashed out at China, raising tensions ahead of a summit of the superpowers’ leaders next month. Washington said Beijing was running a “Great Transshipment Scam,” accusing some of its closest partners of enabling China’s efforts to ferry goods via third countries in order to evade US tariffs.
The report came as US President Donald Trump unveiled duties of up to 100% on imported drones and drone components, including from a raft of allies. Washington and Beijing also appear to be making no progress towards building a pillar of their trade truce, a bilateral board of investment, the head of a top US business group told the South China Morning Post.
