Semafor Innovation Atlas
Last updated: August 6, 2026
These terms and conditions (these “Terms”) govern submissions to Semafor Innovation Atlas (“SIA”), an editorial research initiative conducted by Semafor, Inc. (“Semafor,” “we,” or “us”). By submitting a project, including all associated materials (a “Submission”) through the SIA submission form (the “Form”), you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not submit your project.
You can access the Form here
1. What is the Semafor Innovation Atlas
The Semafor Innovation Atlas (“SIA”) is an editorial reporting project associated with Semafor’s Silicon Valley & The World (“SVW”) initiative, which connects builders of transformative technologies with the leaders shaping their global impact. The SIA project will feature pilot programs that use AI, robotics, or other advanced technology to address society’s most intractable challenges.
2. Types of pilot programs we are seeking
We are looking for pilot programs from local governments, schools and universities, nonprofits, and companies that fall under one of the following five categories: healthcare, economic participation/workforce, education and talent, AI risk/responsible development, and climate/energy. SIA participants must show measurable, real results and the potential to scale. The submitted pilot programs must have demonstrable results at the time of submission and should utilize recent breakthrough technologies from the last two years.
3.Who can submit
You must be at least 18 years old to submit a pilot program for consideration. Employees and contractors of Semafor, and their immediate family members, are not eligible to submit a pilot program or have a pilot program selected. You can submit a project even if Semafor has already covered it in its journalism.
4. Submission period and how to submit
Submissions must be received through the Form by Friday, August 28, 2026. Semafor may extend this deadline at its discretion. You may submit more than one pilot program, and you may submit a pilot program on behalf of another person or organization as long as you are authorized to submit such pilot program on their behalf.
5. Your representations and warranties
By submitting your Submission, you represent and warrant that: (a) you have the authority to submit the pilot program and the materials included in your Submission and that you meet the eligibility requirements; (b) the information you provide is accurate; and (c) your Submission does not infringe upon, misappropriate or violate the intellectual property, privacy, or other rights of any third party.
6. How Submissions are considered
Semafor’s editorial team will review the Submissions and determine, in Semafor’s sole discretion, which pilot programs (if any) will be selected. Semafor intends to select one pilot program in each of the five categories listed above. However, there are no fixed scoring criteria and no guarantee that any pilot program will be selected.
7. What being selected means
Being selected means Semafor will consider your pilot program for editorial coverage in connection with its SVW initiative, which may include (at Semafor’s sole discretion) your pilot program being featured on Semafor’s website, newsletters and other Semafor channels and/or at the first annual SVW event currently scheduled to be held in November 2026 (“SVW Event”). If you are selected, you and your program team members should be prepared to participate in live and/or recorded interviews, photo shoots, and talks at the SVW Conference as may be requested by Semafor. Only applicants whose pilot programs are selected will be notified.
8. Authorizations
By submitting your Submission, you grant Semafor a non-exclusive, worldwide, perpetual, sublicensable, royalty-free license to use, reproduce, edit, adapt, and publish all or a portion of your Submission, including any materials included with it, in Semafor’s editorial content and promotion of that content, in any media, whether or not your pilot program is selected.
9. Publicity
If your pilot program is selected for participation in the SIA project, you agree that Semafor may use your name, organization name, likeness, and project information in its editorial content and in promotion of that content, including press materials, without further compensation.
10. Your information
